Search committee begins to conduct interviews, new president remains unknown

By:

The search for the upcoming Dixie State University president is underway, and the Presidential Search Committee is quietly diving into the applicant pool.

Steve Johnson, DSU public relations director, said the committee members have no choice but to refrain from giving information about the search because the Utah System of Higher Education and board of regents have control over what is announced. The members are currently in a confidentiality term.

Melanie Heath, board of regents director of communication, said the search is currently in the stage of interviewing applicants. She said no one knows how long the interviewing procedure will take because it depends on the number of applicants, which is also confidential. She said there is no specific time frame that the committee is working with and as soon as the finalists are chosen, the names will be released. She also said there is not a specific number of finalists that the committee is looking for.

According to higheredutah.org, the search committee will deliberate after the interviews and forward a list of recommended finalists to the board of regents. The names will then be announced and the finalists will meet with campus constituent representatives. The board of regents then conducts interviews, selects the new president and announces the information.
