Letter to the Editor: Some misunderstood the letter to the editor

By:

There has been a major misunderstanding as to the point of my letter to the editor two weeks ago. It seems that some people have thought that I was saying the Black Student Union was demeaning DSU’s image. I assure you this is not the case. I was referring to the repetitive use of the F-word as scummy, low-class, etc. It has nothing to do with the fact that the Black Student Union was the one playing it; I have absolutely no problem with diversity on campus. If that room was full of Molly Mormons, football players or college professors, I still would have written the article. I understand that it was an accident, but I did not know that until a few days ago. The fact that some people understood it as a race problem totally misunderstood the letter. Notice the title, “Vulgarity hurts DSU’s image,” not “The Black Student Union hurts DSU’s image.” Again, I am sorry for those of you who misunderstood the article.
