The Dixie State University women’s basketball team continued with its six-game home streak with a 77-54 win over University of Hawaii-Hilo Thursday night.
The win improved the team’s record to 11-11 overall, putting it at 50 percent for the first time since Jan. 6.
Senior guard Haley Holmstead led the team with 39 points, while sophomore center Taylor Mann put up a school record of 26 rebounds.
It wasn’t until Dixie was able to put together 13 unanswered points that the teams began to separate dramatically.
Holmstead put up a beautiful jump shot, breaking the team’s 43-43 tie with 11:46 left.
This led to DSU holding the Vulcans to zero points for the last 3:30 of play, putting together another outstanding run of 12 unanswered points.
The team will continue its six-game home streak Saturday against Chaminade University where it looks to continue a three-game winning streak.
This will be the team’s second to last home game of the regular season.
