Dixie State University men’s soccer team got its first season win over Hope International University on its home field Wednesday night, 3-1.
Dixie kept the momentum the first half but never scored.
Red Storm freshman midfielder Sean Jenne finally found the back of the net following an indirect kick a few minutes into the second half.
Freshman forward McKay Moffat had two breakaway shots midway through the second half but missed the goal. Junior midfielder Erik Shallenberger then scored the second goal with an assist from Jenne with 10:45 left in the game. Shallenberger made the third goal of the night a few minutes shy of the buzzer.
Hope International took a shot at goal two minutes before the buzzer and missed but later put one in with 29 seconds left. That didn’t scare DSU when the game ended 3-1, which was the Red Storm’s first win of the season.
