Republicans do not want new taxes on corporations or billionaires. They ignore the 22 percent of U.S. children living below the poverty level and fail to realize over 45 million Americans live below the poverty level. They have pursued anti-women policies and opposed increasing the minimum wage for decades. Their excess defense spending dramatically increased the national debt, and they want the wealthy to have non-taxed foreign bank accounts. Their economic policies contribute to crime, despair and age-based tensions. They regularly cut the budgets of the EPA and the National Park Service, and they tend to oppose legislation promoting clean air and water in the U.S. They tend to violate the spirit of their oath of office to preserve, protect and defend the great majority of Americans.
