Summer promises array of movies

With the launch of multiple hits and flops, this summer has potential to be a summer to remember when it comes to new films.

“I love movies,” said Matthew Hansen, a sophomore communicationmajor from Salt Lake City. “They are the highlight of my summer because that’s when most of the good films come out.”

With the release of “Iron Man 3,” “Star Trek Into Darkness,” “Fast and Furious 6,” “The Wolverine,” “Man of Steel” and “The Hangover: Part III,” this summer is riddled with series continuations.

“The sequel movies are all going to be hits,” said Laura Peterson, a freshman general education major from Cedar City. “They’ve all got extensive fan bases.”

Among the sequel movies, the most anticipated films for the students question are “Iron Man 3,” and “The Wolverine.”

“Superhero movies are always good fun,” said Matthew Hansen, a junior communication major from Las Vegas. “Everyone loves a good hero movie; so much so that people look forward to them for years.”

Some people, however, choose to avoid the sequels and opt for movies that aren’t continuations.

“’The Fast and Furious’movies are completely overdone,” said James Pearson, a freshman psychology major from Phoenix. “So are the ‘Hangover’films. There are only so many times you can see the same movie with different names.”

For those movie buffs who need something brand new to see over the summer, there’s always “World War Z,” and “The Lone Ranger and Elysium.” Etonline.com ranked these movies on the top 10 must-see movies for summer 2013.

If you’ve got small children, or just want to enjoy a movie more family friendly, don’t worry. “EPIC,” “Monsters University,” “Despicable Me 2” and “theSmurfs 2” are all hitting the big screen throughout the summer, ensuring that you’ll have plenty of movies to take your families to.

For those of you who are fans of books-to-film adaptations, “The Great Gatsby” is a must see. It ranked No. 2 on etonline.com’s top 10 must-see movies. Other books-to-filmadaptations include the “Mortal Instruments: City of Bones” film and the “Percy Jackson: Sea of Monsters” movie.

Whether you’re a die-hard super-hero fan, someone who loves book to film adaptations, or just a casual movie-goer, this summer there’s a film that you’ll enjoy.
