A traveling conference for the betterment of women has chosen Dixie State University as its launch point.
Inspire My Life, a full-day conference for women, will call DSU’s Cox Auditorium its home on April 13 from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. DSU is the first stop on a 16-city schedule for 2013. According to Inspire My Life’s press release, St. George was selected as the launch-pad because of its demographics, cultural strengths and size.
The event will combine music, multidimensional staging and educational messages tailored to inspire, motivate and teach women.
Vickey Pahnke, president of a production company providing positive choice programs throughout the U.S., was selected to speak with the touring conference.
“I love the opportunity to talk about things that are motivating, fun and inspiring, especially for women,” she said. “[Organizers of Inspire my Life] asked me to do a little music too, so I get the best of both worlds.”
Pahnke said the title of her presentation is “5 Promises Every Woman Should Make to Herself.”
“In order for anything to be effective in our lives, we have to start inside and let it work out,” Pahnke said. “I want women to learn faster than I did, more quickly than my generation, to get rid of the fake guilt traps, to be true to their feelings more. I want them feeling better than when they came in.”
The conference will also include performances by inspirational artists.
Country music performer Charley Jenkins said bettering people is his motivation to be a part of the conferences.
“[Inspire My Life] is something that hasn’t been done, and it’s exciting to be a part of a collaboration that is going to essentially affect people’s lives and that will inspire people to go and be better people,” Jenkins said. “Our goal as a band is for that moment to help people forget about what’s going on in their lives. Our job is to give them a release from their every day and hopefully inspire them and give them an uplifting experience to remember that will put a smile on their face.”
Jenkins said his band isn’t just a plain country band.
“We are personal country,” he said. “There is a reason we are singing every song. It’s not heavy, but it is like your favorite ranch dressing: We go with everything.”
Jenkins said he hopes DSU women will consider the value of this event.
“I would encourage them to invest in themselves, and that should be the No. 1 priority to help better themselves,” he said. “So when you look at the ticket price, really consider how this is an investment in yourselves.”
Tickets are $75 for the conference and include a mini musical concert in the early evening. Tickets are available online at www.inspiremylife.com.
According to the press release, Inspire My Life is partnering with the Dove Center. To support the center, participants can bring old jewelry to benefit the Dove Center’s “We Claim the Beauty” project or donate gift cards from major retailers.
