Free SUU Jazz Concert Promises Excitement

Southern Utah University is currently preparing to face the music with its “Big Swing Face” jazz show, which will take place Nov. 15, free of charge. The program, named after a number by the Buddy Rich Big Band, will be directed by Dr. Thomas Herb, who has 15 years of experience in instrumental music education.

The night’s itinerary includes some of jazz and band’s most sensational offerings, like “Follow the Leader,” by Fred Sturm, and “Afternoon” by Pat Methany. Arrangements will be coming from the jazz-and-classically trained Dr. Herb himself. Herb has also played the Mississippi Valley Saxophone Quartet, the Keokuk Big River Jazz Band, and the Illinois Missouri Swing Machine.

The event kicks off at 7:30 in the evening, at the Sharwan Smith Center’s Living Room.
