I-15 Road Closures to Happen In Preparation For New Dixie Drive Interchange

By:

After extensive construction, the new I-15 Dixie Drive Interchange is starting to take shape. Road closures are scheduled during the evenings to allow workers to move barriers, re-stripe roads, and reroute traffic to the new interchange. Tuesday, August 16 from 7:00 p.m. to 7:00 a.m. on Wednesday, August 17 close southbound left lane; switch southbound traffic to new configuration; close southbound Bluff Street on-ramp to re-stripe and move barrier for a short time. On Wednesday, August 17 from 7:00 p.m. to 7:00 a.m., southbound right lane and northbound right lane will be closed to move barrier. Traffic stays the same. Other closures include: Thursday, August 18 from 7:00 p.m. to 7:00 a.m. southbound right lane; switch southbound, Bluff Street on-ramp traffic to new slip ramp. Friday, August 19 from 7:00 p.m. to 7:00 a.m. southbound right lane for barrier to be moved. The new traffic patterns will remain in effect for several months. Motorists are reminded of the speed limit of 55 miles per hour, with fines doubled for speeding in work zones. No changes will be made to the northbound Bluff Street on-ramp at this time. City trail users can look forward to the Confluence Park Trailhead being opened in September with new restroom facilities and expanded parking. The current trail is open with restrictions on parking and access on 270 East. For more information and to see an animation of the new interchange, visit www.udot.utah.gov/i15dixie .
