Quail Creek Closure

By:

Popular southern Utah recreation site, Quail Creek, will be closing its doors Monday and Tuesday for a chemical treatment to reduce the lake’s algae.

Every few years the algae in the lake reaches a high level which affects the taste and smell of our drinking water. The creek, located about 12 miles northeast of St. George, will receive the chemical treatment via helicopter drop into the lake, necessitating the closure.

Officials say the chemical drops will not cause any adverse effects on the swimmers or anyone drinking the water.
